The Twelve Days of Moving Stress
Some people lose weight when they are stressed. Not me. I am a stress eater. Food is a great comfort to me in times of trial. I realized the other day that prior to move #1, I went on quite an eating spree during the 2 weeks before we left our house. The fascinating part was that there was an interesting, almost festive pattern to that eating. If you were to put it to music, it would go something like this
**Sung to the tune of the Twelve Days of Christmas
On the first day of moving stress my true love gave to me: a tub of rocky road ice cream
On the second day of moving stress my true love gave to me: 2 Oh Henry Bars, and a tub of rocky road ice cream
On the third day of moving stress my true love gave to me: 3 apple blossoms (mini apple pies), 2 Oh Henry Bars and a tub of rocky road ice cream.
On the fourth day of moving stress my true love gave to me: 4 bags of ruffle chips, 3 apple blossoms, 2 Oh Henry Bars and a tub of rocky road ice cream.
On the fifth day of moving stress my true love gave to me: 5 golden butter tarts! 4 bags of ruffle chips, 3 apple blossoms, 2 Oh Henry Bars and a tub of rocky road ice cream.
On the 6th day of moving stress my true love cut me off (and I had to buy my own junk): I had: 6 Hersey almond bars, 5 golden butter tarts! 4 bags of ruffle chips, 3 apple blossoms, 2 Oh Henry Bars and a tub of rocky road ice cream.
I’ll stop the little song here, but in case you were wondering about the rest of the verses, they would go something like this:
12 crackers with cream cheese
11 crackers with brie cheese
10 crackers with (old) cheddar cheese
9 crackers with Havarti cheese
8 bags of peanut M&Ms
and 7 chocolate Easter eggs (stolen from my children’s stash. Baaaaaad I know)
So now you know all my favourite foods. Clearly I have a bit of a chocolate/cheese/chip problem. Oh yeah, and butter tarts. I have a thing for pecan butter tarts.
Now, in my own defense I must note that I did not eat ALL these things daily, it is more of a running total (i.e. one tub of rocky road over the entire 2 weeks.) So its not really that bad…..right? Well, I guess my thighs tell the real story. I really must start reminding myself that I now own a house with a pool and will be in my bathing suit regularly. This means that rigorous work must be done before June 1 to get back into bathing suit shape! Perhaps my goal for move #2 should be to become one of those people who gets too stressed to eat! : )Hmmmmmm
Let’s now return to our regular programming about my kids so I can bask in their cuteness and not think about my need to firm up…..
