Ying-er 2006

We adopted our daughter Charlotte Xiao from China in 2006. ("ying-er" means baby in mandarin). This blog tells our story about building a family of 4, and the on-going joys/trials in our lives.

Winter - not so fun

This post could also be called, "Where the hell have we been, what have we been doing, and why have we not posted?"

The sad tale goes something like this:
- Charlotte gets the stomach flu for 4 days
- as soon as she is well, AJ gets it.
- 2 days into AJ being sick, Heather gets it
- Steve (the only person left standing) spends nights wandering the hall emptying buckets
= one week shot to hell

- Charlotte's stomach things ends and she gets a wicked cold and heavy-duty cough (although notice she is able to still smile thru the snot)
- Heather gets the cough/cold
- AJ gets the cough/cold
= another week shot to hell

- Charlotte's cold turns into pneumonia. She is now so cranky and needy (after being sick for 2 weeks) that she must be carried everywhere, at all times. So.....the backpack....its not just for outdoors anymore. It is great for making dinner.
- Heather and AJ recover
- Steve still hanging tough
= another week shot to hell (although the end of the week was getting better)

- Steve finally gives in and gets the cold now that all the women are better and can take care of him (now that's thinking!)

There are very few photos of these sad events. Here is a happy one of Char's first real meal after 5 days of nothing.
The good news. We're all fine now - but early Feb is a blur.
Happy post with fun photos coming soon.....
