Ying-er 2006

We adopted our daughter Charlotte Xiao from China in 2006. ("ying-er" means baby in mandarin). This blog tells our story about building a family of 4, and the on-going joys/trials in our lives.

Winter fun

Winter finally arrived here with a vengeance. Of course to us this means FUN IN THE SNOW! Although Charlotte certainly didn’t know what had happened, the rest of us knew that this meant ski season had finally arrived. As with the last couple of years, we spend Sundays with a group of other “ski families” at our local ski hill, then back to Marks and Deb’s for a relaxing afternoon of lunch and play.

While AJ is busy with her friends on the big hill. Charlotte and the other youngsters spend their time sledding at the base of the hill, snacking by the fireplace in the lodge…or just napping!

Who knew that the sled could be such a good place for a nap?

AJ has come along way with her skiing – she is able to get off the chair lift with no problem and the only difficulty she has in skiing down the hill is fending off her parents (us) yelling at her to slow down – luckily she wears a helmet.

Meanwhile back at home, Charlotte has become a bit of a fashion diva, enjoying accessorizing her outfits with matching (?) glasses from her “Potato Head” game.
