Some News About Us Adults
SOLD! Heather’s post-holiday weight loss plan
Exciting news - last weekend we sold our house. We are thrilled, but a little bit stressed as we don’t have another house to go to yet!
The great part is that our house wasn’t even listed. We had just spoken to a local agent who advertised it around her office. We had about 5 showings and bam – we were done. We will have to move earlier than we would have liked (close date is April 13 with an option to extend to April 30 if we need to), but other than that it was an offer we couldn’t refuse. Close to our asking price and with no conditions. Pretty hard to say no.
We’ve actually been looking for a house for almost a year now, but we just haven’t seen anything that really interested us. Now the heat is on! We won’t make the same mistake we did last time though and get pressured into moving into something we’re not 100% happy with. If we have to, we’ll pick a neighbourhood and rent for a while until we find what we want.
A little adult conversation
In the midst of all this house selling I also stumbled upon some contract work that I can do in the evenings and afternoons during school/nap. It is mostly recruiting, resume screening, that sort of thing. Naturally, when it rains it pours, so in the midst of considering the first opportunity 2 others came out of the woodwork. (nice problem to have). This week I had two meetings where I actually had to have a coherent adult conversation and talk business. After 8 months of kid stuff and sleep deprivation this is no mean feat, let me tell you. I managed to convince them I could do it, so once my parental leave ends I am officially a contractor. I’m pretty psyched about it. Mostly I’ll work from home, but I’ll need to have meetings at least once a week for status checks/progress reports. More adult conversation! Cerebral brain activity. Wow.
