Ying-er 2006

We adopted our daughter Charlotte Xiao from China in 2006. ("ying-er" means baby in mandarin). This blog tells our story about building a family of 4, and the on-going joys/trials in our lives.

Moving Day - Round #1

There is no way around it - moving bites. The whole thing went off pretty much without any troubles, but really, it is still a long, tiring event. 8 hours of packing (OK, actually it was weeks....but the main packing was crammed into that day), and then almost 12 hours of loading the next day. Note that this is NOT because we have a lot of crap (although I guess we do), it was mostly because packing storage crates takes much longer than just stuffing everything in a truck - or so they tell me.
Anyway, it is done and we all cried bit but we've recovered and we're settling in nicely with Nana and Papa. Thank God for Nana and Papa opening up their house to us and all the crap we felt we couldn't possibly store/live without for 7 weeks. The basement is jammed. You know what though? After not having them around for the winter, it is really nice to be spending some time - lots of time - with them. Let's hope they're still happy to have us around by June. : )
Stay tuned for Round #2 - the move into our real house the first week of June. (of COURSE there will be more posts between now and then though!)
