Visiting and Visitors
We’ve been busy the last few weeks!!! Sure, there has been lots of time for important things like lazing (is that a word??) around in the pool, but mostly we've been on the move.
The weekend of June 24/25 we made the journey to Southern Ontario to do the new baby tour. It was a bit of a whirlwind, but it was nice to be able to touch base with so many people nevertheless. It went something like this.Get up early Saturday morning – drive to Georgetown (just north of TO) to attend my family reunion. Everyone had a great time, especially the kids, who basically played in the pool all day. We played there until 7:00 or so and then went on to London to stay with Steve’s sister Millie and her family.
Sunday we got up and drove about 1 hour to visit my Grandma Ruby (Dad’s Mom). We had a short but really nice visit. After lunch we went to visit my other Grandmother, Grandma Elsie who is about ½ hour away. Again, we didn’t have a lot of time to linger, but it was nice to she her even if it was quick. By 3:30 both girls were visited out, so we jumped back in the car and drove back to London.

AJ was thrilled to be back in London so she could swim in Aunt Millie and Uncle Jerry’s pool. That was pretty much how she spent the rest of the day. My cousin Brian and his wife Leasa came over for dinner also, which was great because we got to catch up with them too!
The next day we got back into the car for the BIG drive. London to home is about 7-8 hours….when not traveling with a baby. All things considered, we did really well. There were a lot of stops for stretches, diaper changes and one crying fit, but we managed to make it home by 7:00 (which means the trip took us 9 hours). Not bad for our first car trip.
And, it helped us make another decision. We are headed for Lake Superior Provincial Park for our vacation later in the month. It is a 14 hour drive. AJ, Charlotte and I will definitely be flying and Steve will drive on his own and listen to Roughrider Games or something….

Canada Day weekend we were at home. We had a wonderful time visiting with 2 of the families that traveled with us to China. Randy/Julie and their daughter Chloe, and Thomi/Christina and their daughter Claudia came to stay with us and enjoy the Nation’s Capital on Canada day. It was so great to get together with some of our group again, talk about the trip and what has been going on with our girls so far, and of drink some Tsing Tsao for old times sake. The girls were really cute together, and AJ had a blast acting as ‘big sister’ to all of them. Everyone seems to be doing really well and thriving in their new environments. Did the girls know they were visiting their former orphanage mates? Impossible to tell. It was a good visit for their parents though. What’s up for this weekend?? Our first camping trip. We’re only going for one night….it is only an experiment after all. Based on the amount of sleeping (only in 3 hour stretches), regurgitating (at least once a day) and pooping (still not much) that is going on lately, it should be an interesting adventure……
