Ying-er 2006

We adopted our daughter Charlotte Xiao from China in 2006. ("ying-er" means baby in mandarin). This blog tells our story about building a family of 4, and the on-going joys/trials in our lives.

Not much to report today

Very tired - so this will be a quick post. Had a better night. Wake up was @ 2:30 (instead of midnight) and was up for the day @ 6:30 (rather than 5:00!!). An improvement all around.

Rest of the day was all about travel. Got up, had breakfast, did final packing, entrusted our bags to complete strangers again, got on the bus, went to the airport and flew to Beijing.

The flight was 2 hrs 50 mins. It wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t the most fun we’ve had. Charlotte slept for in only 2 30 mins stretches –but the timing was great. The first one was during take-off and the second was during landing. During the rest of the flight, however, she was a complete wiggle worm. Essentially she was only happy when we were up walking around. She is very social, and sitting still is NOT her thing. She was also happy when she was sitting alone in the seat with room to play. THANK GOD we have a third seat for the way back. It is clear that we would not survive the 13.5 hour flight without it.

We’re happy to be back in Beijing with more variety of restaurants, convenient grocery shopping and comfortable temperatures.
Tomorrow morning it is off to an adventure at the Great Wall!!!!

Didn't take any photos today, so here are some that were taken in Beijing during our first week here. The first one is a cute little man we met on our way to the grocery store. The second one is Steve posing with an outfit he found interesting when we were at the Pearl Market last time. Everything she is wearing is made from pearls...
