Ying-er 2006

We adopted our daughter Charlotte Xiao from China in 2006. ("ying-er" means baby in mandarin). This blog tells our story about building a family of 4, and the on-going joys/trials in our lives.

Less sleep, but more fun during the day.

We had a great day today. Not only did we start to figure eachother out, but we all had fun! As you can see from the photo, Charlotte can actually sit on her own. This was a relief, because yesterday she needed a lot of support.

We had a rather crummy night, she was up at 11:00 and then again at 3:00 am. We made a good discovery though - she will go back to sleep quite easily in her crib if you pat her bum. Hooray, this was such a nice break from having to hold her all the time.
And look what we scored during the day for our efforts - big smiles!! (OK - maybe it was the Cheerios she liked......)

Today's adventures took us to a Buddist temple where the babies were blessed in a special ceremony.

The temple was amazing, but it was SO hot it was hard to enjoy it. One of the old ladies that worked there was fussing over Charlotte and telling me that she looked too hot, and she gave me permission to take her shirt off. What a relief, the poor kid was exploding with heat rash.

This will be a short post because we are as tired as Charlotte was on the bus ride home!

p.s. Steve got his stitches out today (Fu Ling took him to a clinic) and everything is looking great!
